Bladder-Health™

Bladder-Health™ is clinically formulated to proactively promote optimum health of the urinary bladder. Our bladders are susceptible to a variety of ailments, ranging from infections to overactivity to cancer. Experts agree that undertaking a proactive, not reactive, approach to health leads to fewer difficulties down the road.

Bladder-Health™ is a completely natural proprietary blend of pharmaceutical grade minerals and herbs, synergistically combined to provide anti-oxidant properties, immune system support, bacterial anti-adherence qualities and nitric oxide promotion for the bladder.

Echinacea: Echinacea was introduced into US medical practice back in 1887. It supports the immune system, and several double-blind studies have confirmed its benefits for treating and preventing colds and flu. Several constituents (alkylamides/polyacetylenes, caffeic acid derivatives and polysaccharides) in Echinacea appear to work together to increase the production and activity of the body’s white blood cells. Echinacea has been specifically shown to activate an important class of white blood cells known as natural killer cells as well as increase the body’s production of interferon.

Cranberry: Modern scientific research has confirmed what has been long used as a home remedy for bladder infections. Cranberry decreases the ability of certain bacteria to adhere or latch onto the wall of the bladder. This allows the body’s normal mechanisms to flush the bacteria out of the bladder. Cranberry also contains hippuric acid, a compound that has been found to have antibiotic activity. Numerous scientific studies have shown the health benefits of cranberry1-4. A double-blind, randomized placebo controlled study presented at the national meeting of the American Urological Association June, 2001 demonstrated that women who took cranberry had a statistically significant decrease in symptomatic urinary tract infections over a year’s time.

Ginkgo Biloba: Ginkgo is one of the oldest surviving species of tree, able to be traced back 300 million years. It has been cultivated and used for numerous ailments and is one of the most widely prescribed herbs in Germany, with a total prescription count of more than 6 million in 1995. It has been the subject of numerous scientific studies. It has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for thousands of years and has played a role in regulating and aiding bladder health.

Kava: It is thought that kava-lactones are important active constituents in kava herbal extracts. Kava has been the subject of many scientific studies. It has been used as an anti-inflammatory and relaxant. It has been used in the treatent of a variety of genitourinary problems including vaginitis, prostatitis and cystitis.

L-Methionine and L-Arginine: L-Methionine is an essential amino acid that helps regulate the formation of ammonia, and is thought to aid in creating ammonia-free urine leading to reduction of bladder irritation. A study published in 1997 suggested that Methionine may prevent bacteria from sticking to urinary tract cells. L-Arginine is an essential amino acid that is converted in the body to Nitric Oxide. Nitric Oxide acts as an important messenger molecule and is critical in allowing blood vessels to relax.

Zinc: Zinc is a component of more than 300 enzymes that are needed for a variety of functions, including wound repair, protein synthesis, cell reproduction, and protection against free radicals. It is believed to boost the immune system, and in a double-blind clinical trial lozenges with zinc gluconate shortened the duration of cold symptoms. The average diet frequently provides less than the recommended daily allowance for zinc.

Selenium: Selenium is an essential mineral that is a component of the antioxidant enzyme glutathione peroxidase. This antioxidant enzyme protects cell membranes and red blood cells from oxidative damage by free radicals. Selenium benefits all aspects of the immune system including the development and function of white blood cells. A selenium deficiency results in impaired immune system function and decreased resistance to infection. It also offers beneficial protection against cardiovascular disease and strokes, and may play a role in the prevention of prostate cancer.
